  • Responsibilities

    Leadman will be responsible for supervision of a crew. Must be able to read plans and specifications and be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The Leadman is responsible for assisting the Foreman in managing the performance of a crew of required projects. With a crew including themselves and typically at least two laborers, they are responsible for carrying out the work at a rate which meets or exceeds company production standards.

    • Ensuring that the laborers report for work on time and in compliance with all policies regarding appearance and being “fit for work.”
    • Procuring all necessary materials and equipment.
    • Ensuring that the load has been properly loaded and strapped down.
    • Driving the company vehicle and trailer to job site.
    • Ensuring that the work environment is safe for all employees.
    • Determining which employees will perform which task while on the jobsite.
    • Installation of product.
    • Ensuring that their laborers’ production is at a sufficient level and maintaining documents for the purpose of recommending promotions, etc.
    • Measuring all jobs to assist accounting department in invoicing.
    • Maintaining materials usage documentation.
    • Providing initial training for new hires and continual training for all team members.
    • Documenting the safety status and overall fitness of all machinery and company equipment under their supervision.
    • Leading team safety meetings for their crew.
    • Leading ongoing training in foreman and labor meetings.
    • Forwarding members’ concerns/complaints to Human Resources.

    Experience & Education/Certification: 

    • 5 years of experience as a Leadman in a similar environment.
    • Experience in heavy/civil construction industry preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license required.

    Required Skills & Knowledge: 

    • Must possess working knowledge of heavy equipment, hand-held equipment, and general commercial concrete construction.
    • Ability to frequently lift heavy object over 25lbs.
    • Ability to think, move, and act quickly in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
    • Must possess knowledge of safety practices within a construction environment and be able to apply and teach those practices.
